Over the years, my painting practice has taken on a fluidity of its own. I have been painting since I was thirteen years old, and am largely self taught. Previously, my practice focused on playing with saturated colors, inspiration from lighting, and natural elements. I try not to overly look for an apparent theme within these pieces, as I believe I was doing what every young artist does--playing. Testing out colors, experimenting with different mediums, these works below aren't meant to be relentlessly conceptual and granular in detail. They were a place for me to go to when I needed it, and I'm grateful for what they taught me.

Throughout this collection you'll notice a consistent love of depicting nature, heavily relying on iconography to express an affect. I'm often interested in finding a less direct way of saying what I'd like to say. A mouth next to an ear could be a secret, or it could allude to a forbidden relationship. This goes back to the general theme of playing in this work.
