Artist & Curator
Chenoa buster
My name is Chenoa Buster, and I'm a curator, and art-maker, and thinker. I'm currently located in the Corydon, Indiana area and work in and around Louisville, Kentucky. I hold a Master of Arts in Curatorial & Critical Studies from the University of Louisville. I'm primarily always thinking or looking at art, and when I'm not doing that, I'm creating it.
My background comes from being largely a self taught artist, with some classes peppered into the last 15 years. I'm not medium-specific, and while I am experienced working with installation, painting, and photography, I choose to let my work develop through it's own form. Meaning, if something is best as a painting, I let it be that. But if it's best as a sculpture, I'll teach myself the skills necessary to create it. While this is difficult to market, I've found that it contributes heavily to having an authentic practice, and ultimately makes me a more well round artist.
I'm often thinking about the intersections between mediums, and how they can work together. Themes in my work include technology, simulacra, the everyday, nostalgia and memory. These tend to flow based off my current interests. Much of my art practice ends up spilling over to my curatorial practice, which also becomes its own form of art-making. I embrace all sides of me and welcome this diversity.
Currently, I'm looking for opportunities to collaborate with other artists on installations. Collaboration is a part of my practice I've come to enjoy, and I welcome the chance to bounce ideas off other artists.
